Radio Sailing – Getting the Most Out of Your Spektrum

We go radio sailing holding a transmitter in our hands… the primary way we communicate with our boat.

In our sport of radio sailing, there are simply no “Radio Sailor Manuals” for any of the major brands of transmitters that we use. The existing official manuals are intended for Flyers – planes, gliders, drones, helicopters and so on. In preparing this online manual for Spektrum, we have quickly moved from “Make Spektrum do what the other brands can do” to……

“Something a little more edgy!! “…. See the features list in the menu above.

Around 18 months ago, Datchet Radio Sailing wrote some very basic transmitter manuals for radio sailors covering several brands. We wrote them as pdf downloads. In less than 18 months, they have already been downloaded well over 1,600 times.

If you are fresh to radio sailing, or fresh to sailing with a Spektrum, you might want first to read the Spektrum Beginner’s Guide (See “Other Manuals” on this website menu. It is an excellent document written by our our colleagues in the USA.

Our idea here is to give instructions for a Radio Sailor to program a Spektrum for every single possible feature one might ever need in sailing. You wouldn’t want to use them all, but rather you’d select from this menu of options to suit your style of sailing.

Target Audience

We have a range of User Manuals aimed at the Beginner to Radio Sailing – see “Other Manuals” tab on the website menu. The Beginner might find the content of this website “a bit much to start with”. Come back to it later !

This website is aimed at Radio Sailors who have some experience of programming their transmitters and are looking for more.

Our range of User Manual Downloads for other transmitters is available by clicking on “Other Manuals” in the menu bar above.
